A piece on bullying, done for the April 10th issue of The Manitoban.
I was basically asked to draw two adults in a bullying/victim situation. For the victim, I went with pink in recognition of Pink Shirt Day’s origin. The bully is yellow, because I think most of us can agree that deep down, a lot of bullies are cowards, or “yella” in the cowboy vernacular.
I don’t get very personal on this here blog, but I thought I’d draw this for fun and share it here. It’s a note to self, and a self-caricature.
I drew these speakers for a poster, but decided that they were unnecessary to the design in the end. Not complaining though, they were fun to draw.

I drew my homie emcee John Smith with a Charlie Brown feel for a poster (I’ll link that up later). I can’t lie to you, folks, I really like how this turned out.

Drawing cars is not my forté, so I looked forward to the challenge of depicting some. They’re not based on any particular cars, and that might be apparent. Still, I think I was successful in saying “car,” don’t you think?
For the heck of it, I started a new board in my Pinterest profile for vehicles I need to draw. Collecting the photos may be more fun than drawing them, but that’s the pill I gotta swallow!
This was fun to do, as all of my latest Manitoban illustrations have been. Silvana put type on the tapes and CDs where appropriate. Grumpy Cat was thrown in just for kicks.

Here’s an illustration I did for this week’s Manitoban of Royce White. The Houston Rockets player has anxiety disorder and a fear of flying, so I tried to be sensitive (as I was asked to be, plus mental illness is a real issue with folks close to me), but still get the idea across. I really had to resist putting the shadow of a plane in there. I still think it works.
